Using 48 v motor in a 36 v cart
I have a 1994 club car ds 36 volt resistor cart. I damaged the motor and it cannot be repaired. Local golf cart company has a 48 v motor that he has no use for. He told me that it would work fine. Just curious if anyone has done this and did it work .

I don't know what motor you are asking about exactly but, most likely a stock 48v CC motor will be slow and weak on 36v

It will be slow as ****.
If he got that wrong, good chance he miss diagnosed your old motor. How did you damage the old motor? 94 was a great year for a club car electric, the best year ever made |

Had to take axle off to spot weld the brackets for the lift kit and over spun the nut on the motor and busted the copper wire of the case. Tac welded it but didn't work all that well and failed.

Your motor can be repaired if you just spun a Stud and broke the connection.

Any motor shop or auto electric rebuild shop can make the repairs for a broken stud plus the wire on the end of the stud inside the motor can be damaged if the stud spun...all repairable.

I would for sure take it to a motor shop. They are all over the place. They should have the expertise and equipment to fix your motor - and clean up the commutator so that it will run like new.
