AMPS my friend AMPS... Without a controller able to deliver more amps there will be no more torque... The controller was the LAST item in my build and until then there were hills in my hood that I could NOT climb...

So reading all the comments, sounds like I should look into a 400 amp controller for now. Again, Im not looking to pull trees down, just a lil extra torque. I saw somewhere that madjax had a programmable one but was kind of pricy, looked cool but probably have to change more components to add it.

The alltrax 400 amp controller, There were several to pick from. Anyone recommend a site sponsor or somewhere to look into purchasing the right one I need?

Thanks

For the original poster a simple XCT400IQ controller and HD solenoid will give the boost you want and bragging rights after passing the stock carts up hill even with bigger tires on. Use 4g or 2g cables for best results

For Bandit users - follow the same advice above

And for Beast or hi-torque motors like the 12 hp Admiral A4 use the XCT500IQ control and super 400 solenoid with 2g cables through out.

I went through this process. I converted a 36v 93 Club Car DS using a ScottyB conversion kit to 48volts, 4 inch lift, 22 inch tires, rear seat and 8 six volts, not six 8 volts. I have a 700 amp controller, hd solenoid and switch, etc. I stayed with the stock motor for a while. Then, tried a PQ Bandit. It didn't do the trick, but they were nice enough to exchange it for a torque motor.

If I had it to do all over again, I would (1) go with an Alltrax controller (more shops are familiar with them than the FSIP/GE controller, (2) go with six 8 volts instead of 8 sixes, as I think the extra weight in the back is a problem for me, but YMMV, and (3) go ahead and upgrade the motor.

Just my .02.

And P.S., I absolutely love my PQ torque motor.

I had the original controller in the cart and it was not going to be enough for the Beast motor, this way I have more than enough controller, plus it was recommended by Scottyb.

Will be getting a 400 amp soon...that was my take, the beast motor and the bandit motor both need more amperage to get more torque, is that not correct? If so, I am even more pleased with my bandit...

It probably doesn't get any flatter than Galveston so it should work out OK.

Ain't that the truth....maybe the salt flats.....

I need tons of torque to get up the seawall...

The only question I have for Scotty is does the fan stay on constantly or does it come on when needed, and if so, how much noise does it make?

The fan only comes on when it's needed which for me was only on the hottest days when ambient temperature was over 105. The noise was so light I only heard it when I stopped and at first I was like shhh... be quiet, what's that noise? So it's not much
