Solenoid resistor...need or not ?
I'm all done with my conversion, cart ran for 5 or 10 seconds at midnight, then next day nothing. I think it is the solenoid (HD) that is bad, My question is some diagrams show a 250 resistor on or at the terminals to the solenoid and some dont, Do I need it or not and what does it do ? I have a new replacement already but dont want to install unless I'm sure about this. 75 bucks is expensive for 10 seconds of run time. Thanks in advance !Mike

Re: Solenoid resistor...need or not ?
YERS you need both the resistor and the diode according to the Alltrax website where you can find a complete explanation on the reasoning...
This is great reading for the conversion buff...... http://www.alltraxinc.com/files/Doc1...ns-Learned.pdf |

Re: Solenoid resistor...need or not ?
Some say they have gotten away without that stuff but then others haven't made it 30 seconds? It can't hurt..... doesn't cost much...and looks cool
Kinda like the Big fuse they supply with all of their controllers too.....250 - 400 amp. I found the price varied a bunch and the best deals were on ebay .... for all U bargain hunters |

Re: Solenoid resistor...need or not ?
Well, after alot of troubleshooting I have reached the conclusion that its going to the shop. I cant get it to do anything, and triple checked all wires and connections. Mike

Have you tested the pot? Solenoid clicking?

Re: Solenoid resistor...need or not ?
Hey roady, Yes I tested the pot and its functioning. The solenoid is brand new today and does not click. I'm getting weird readings @ solenoid, Input at one big lug is 38.6 and on other big lug is slowly climbing from 25.4, does that indicate a place to start or faulty part ?

Re: Solenoid resistor...need or not ?
Either its a bad solenoid or the something in the solenoid activation circuit is screwy. Have you tried to "hot wire" the small terminals to see if the solenoid will work? Have you tried tapping the solenoid? Is it a 48 VDC solenoid?
