Default Battery voltage question, Bad Batteries?

Hello all,

All of a sudden my cart is acting different at rest and under load. For months, my cart showed 50.3/50.4 after a full charge the next morning after the batteries rest. I noticed this past week 50.5/50.6. The batteries are 2012 Crown's... So they shouldn't be gaining momentum at this point right?

Then I took the cart for a ride. Previously after a full charge the cart would stay above 47.8 and mostly over 48v at full throttle. Now the cart is dipping down to 44v and even 43.7. I live in Florida where the ground is completely flat.

When I first noticed this I checked the water in every cell. I topped it all off but nothing was even close to "dangerously low".

I am thinking my batteries are about to go, but wanted to see if anyone could point me in a different direction?

Thanks,

Barry

I will guess that when you unplug the charging cord the battery light flashes. The only time I ever saw my battery voltage drop to 44 volts was going up a steep hill and the temp was about 40 degrees. But you didn't mention anything about a decrease in performance so you might want to hang on to your batteries as long as possible. Be sure to replace them with Trojan's, Crowns are junk.

No flash, the charger is completing a full charge. You are correct, the cart runs the same speed.

One more thought. The rear seat will slow you down. Add the weight of two passengers and the weight of the seat itself and your working that poor lil Bandit to death.

Your batteries are starting to show their age. They will probably last a while longer but you may want to start planning to replace them soon.

That's what I was thinking. They came with the cart when I bought it knowing the day would come...

Buy a ez red hydrometer there cheap after running the cart at the end of day check each cell then charge the c a rt retest it after the charger shuts off look for a weak cell each battery should be the same voltage no more then.5 volt differance. The real test is to load test at 400amps for 15 seconds but must people dont have a big enough testor.New battery will pull 400 amps as the battery gets weaker it wont pull 400 at are shop we throw them out at300 tp 325 depending on how big the scissor lift is.

2012 batteries are not that old.
You may have one battery or one cell getting weak.

I'd do a bit more troubleshooting before dropping $600 on batteries.

Mine are 9 years old and still doing well.

I'd also make sure your charger is doing it's job.

I was keeping mine alive with an old borrowed Yamaha 20a charger.
Since switching to the DPI Accusense, the batteries have gotten much more spunky.

No they are not.... How many miles will they give you? At 2 miles in you said you were at 70 % SOC so more than likely you would be walking home by 4 or 5 miles...

While I disagree about Crown batteries being junk, this right here tells the tail that your batteries are going down the slope... They still have some life in them if kept charged as much as practical but they are wearing down...
