48 volt in 36 volt cart?
I think I read that a 36 volt motor in a 48 volt cart is ok.... I am in the market for a cart in our Florida neighborhood. Want it for general running around and trips to the store (about one mile each way). I would like to see speed in high teens up to 20 mph. Very flat and all pavement. I see a 36 volt CC DS advertised as needing batteries for $600. Can I put in 8 volt batteries and get a 48 volt charger and get the speed I want? Will I have to change other electronic parts to accommodate the higher voltage? Is this going to be reliable when it is done? I don't have the year or s/n yet. Am waiting to hear back. Would I be better off just buying a 48 volt to begin with?

Thanks. Sort of thought so. That is what I originally planned.

Re: 48 volt in 36 volt cart?
you would need
batteries charger hd f/r switch 48v solenoid 48v controller a throttle... if it is not a controller cart the 36v motor is a plus for what you want it will get you the speed you are looking for the DS carts are very good for customizing see what year ds it is then we can see what you really need |

Re: 48 volt in 36 volt cart?
Thanks guys. I think I will pass on this one and wait for the right 48 volt cart. Don't want to have to change out too many parts. Want to feel it as stock as possible and have near 20 mph speed. Hope that is possible. Have seen some listed with "high speed motor". Is that what I should wait for?

A stock sepex (IQ) cart will achieve you 20 mph. That's what I would look for...

Re: 48 volt in 36 volt cart?
IQ can be programmed to 19 MPH, a series car you can do a motor change and be at 24MPH no problem
