Default 36v series motor recomendations

Looking for new motor and new to the world. Have had lots of good advice here. I have a 1985 36v series cart setup with 5 solenoids and a speed switch. been raining so I haven't been able to remove old motor yet to see how many splines but will first chance I get. The cart has over size tires so I know that is a factor too. just curious seen lots of options as far as horsepower mostly 3.5 and 2 for this year and model but since buying new was curious to what upgrade option might be available with out having to change to much inside, since everything inside has recently been replaced.

Is the cart lifted, or just oversized tires? Depending on how much money you want to invest in this cart, you may want to consider upgrading to a solid state drive system.

You should remove the old motor and count splines. I have a custom high torque 16 spline CC motor.

The car is lifted. Not looking to invest to much, just don't want to throw money away. Just learning and getting into it now...
