Speed with new Alltrax 500 on 2013 Precedent
I installed the Alltrax XCT 500a controller along with 2 gauge cables and solenoid from Scotty B in my 2013 Precedent. Basically you just have to follow the diagram on the back of the instruction page and everything makes sense if anyone else is debating installing one themselves.
Anyways...I still have the stock motor installed and plan on upgrading but in the mean time I would like to maximize the speed. I'm getting about 19-20 mph with 23" tires, 6" lift. The roads around here are pretty flat. I've read where some people are getting 25-27 with the same setup so I can only assume something is wrong with my cart/battery/motor or I need to put a more aggressive program on the controller. That or they are full of crap or calculating kilometers. Anyone have the same setup and would like to share their speed secret if so? |

I'm seeing 22.5 on stock tires so you should see a couple MPH more if your batteries and motor are up to the task. You may want to plug in the laptop and see what the rpm limit is set too, 6000 is acceptable.

I did set it to 6300 just to see what would happen but no difference. I do think I have an MCOR issue. Could that be a possible issue?

Re: Speed with new Alltrax 500 on 2013 Precedent
When I first checked I was getting 90-92% but after I slammed the pedal down a few times then I could get 98-99% but never 100%. It would fluctuate a few points with the pedal all the way down. What does that suggest? Time for a new MCOR?

Go into the program and clear auto calculation (calc) under controller. If that does not self repair the throttle in a few 0-100% run ups, then squeeze the throttle curve down to 0-90% lineal (left to right) hope that makes sense.

Program the controller for no speed limit and see what you get.

Re: Speed with new Alltrax 500 on 2013 Precedent
Scottyb - I am getting 100% throttle now and tried moving the throttle curve down so I had 100% power at 50% throttle (I think). No improvement. On a different note, how do I hook up the digital battery meter you supplied?
jjance - I unchecked the Speed Limit option and no change either. I was watching the Alltrax software on my laptop as I was driving (as that's the safe thing to do) and noticed my rpm's don't go above 3800 or so. Obviously because I'm not getting much speed. I also noticed that after a fresh charge my batteries are at 50.3v and when I stomp on the accelerator it drops down to 38v and then pops right back up to 45v for the rest of the trip. Could this be a sign that my batteries are crap? |

Yes! The pack simply lacks the poop to turn the wheels as the pedal is calling for now. Put the rpm monitor back on. Throttle lineal back to 90%. RPM limit to 6000 (my preference for CC) and start shopping batteries.

Thanks guys! I'll get some new batteries and take it from there.
@Scottyb - What's the best way to hook up your battery meter? |
