Re: 2000 club car ds money pit help!!
A stock cart will struggle with larger tires. Larger tires require more torque to turn them. I would start with a load test on the batteries, keeping in mind that they are only at about 75% of their potential strength since they are new. Lots of good reading here: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/battery-break-in-.html

First rule of buying anything that does not work is to never trust the seller to tell you what is wrong with the item.
Since you have it, try playing with it a little and give the group as much info and as many pics as you think we might need, then someone will tell you you left something out that was important. What voltage is your cart? 36 or 48 and how many of what size batteries do you have installed? Do you have a volt meter mounted already that you can monitor while you drive? Have you verified the voltage at the main positive and negative battery pack as being fully charged? The lift will not have much impact on performance like those huge tires. Swap out the tires and wheels for the factory size and see how your cart performs. Go ahead and download a free speedometer app for your phone so you can track top speeds on flat land going forward as well as uphill and downhill. |

Re: 2000 club car ds money pit help!!
Thanks for getting back with me guys. Checked voltage at positive and negative at each side of battery bank . While it is charging voltage is 54.8. Batteries are 8 v @ 160 amps @ 20 hr this is a 48 v cart . I do have a voltage meter straight of the charger it is reading 51.4 v on hard flat surfaces wide open it will drop to 48.5v . Going up slight incline it will drop to 46.5 and if I stop at a incline line a loading dock ramp and try to go up it it will drop to 44.2 or lower .

Is the cart a Series (large lever for FNR with big cables) or Sepex (rocker switch for FNR with thinner wires)?
How did you run the 1/0 cable throuh the OBC, did you make a stud? |

It has the rocker switch for the forward and reverse. As for the wire going threw that hole in what I this is the computer I got the 5 1/6 stud to run threw that cause my 1/0 wire won't fit. The stud came with my wire upgrade kit

Re: 2000 club car ds money pit help!!
It looks like You have a pre-IQ Regen cart.
If Your cart has 2 solenoids and a visible Resistor Coil, make a few torque demanding runs and check the temperature on the resistor coil (careful as it could be red hot). If the Dynamic Brake solenoid is not closing, that resistor stays on the high current path and reduces the current and the amount of torque the motor can develop. Also, is the resistor coil right on top of the solenoid or connected by cables to the solenoid? |

I know exactly what you are talking about that resistor does get hot I have wondered if that was normal. The resistor in mounted right on top of coil . And how do I run the test on the braking system that you are speaking of

Re: 2000 club car ds money pit help!!
This is your wiring diagram for reference:
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...s_-regen2-.jpgConnect both of the large cables on the DB solenoid (the one with the coil) to the same big post. This will by-pass the resistor. Unplug the 3-pin connector from the speed sensor pig tail at the end of the motor. This is necessary so the controller does not try to use Dynamic Brake. If the DB solenoid is the problem, You will get more torque. |
