Lights - are they typically all run 12v?

I was cleaning up some stuff on one of my carts and it has lights, and a few other electrical accessories...like a radio.

I was taking the radio out because it was poorly implemented, and navigating though the wiring mess it looks like they just tapped into the lights wires as they look to be coming off the 48 - 12v voltage reducer.

So I just wanted to confirm that this is the norm (they aren't LEDs) and therefore no more wires to remove...

most people dont wire radios though the lights (or i hope they dont ) that just plan laziness. everything should run back to the reducer / fuse block .

Most are run on 12 volts. I have seen a few that were 36 or 48 volt light kits, but those are very rare. Some people "cheap out" and try running the lights on 1 (8 volts) or 2 (16 volts) batteries, but that gives poor light performance and diminishes the life of the batteries. Best case sounds like what you already have: 48 to 12 volt reducer to run the standard 12 volt accessories.
But yes, as Swan stated, everything should have it's own fused run from the reducer.

Yeah there's a lot of lazy on this cart - but yeah the radio was definitely tied into existing wires rather than going to the reducer.

Ok yeah the lights are wired up correctly - that was a shop install and is fused.

The radio on the other hand was a hack - where they just tapped into the lights main +/-. It was fused but a wiring mess. I ended up having to cut and cap the radio's power wires since I don't have wiring to replace the mess they made by cutting into the lights wires...

You know it's a hack when the speakers are those mini 1990's computer speakers thrown in the glove boxes!!
