Default 36 or 48v

hi all I'm new to the form and a new club car owner. I recently got a 98 electric Club Car with a camper that I bought. the club car seems to work okay except that it's very slow especially going uphill I've tested all the batteries and they're all testing its 6 volts both before and after a long ride so I think the batteries are okay. I was going down the road of troubleshooting when I ran across a video that said that if you have a circular plug for the charger that it's a 48 volt cart. So before I get any farther I'd like to figure out if someone put 6 volt batteries into a 48 volt cart. Is there any easy way to tell if my cart is 48 or 36 volt other than looking at the batteries?

See if you can find the serial#. Are there 4 or 3 fill ports on top of the batteries. Does your charger have a voltage on it?

Thank you both. That is the charger port i have and the batteries have 3 holes so it sounds like I'm indeed run ing a 48v cart on 36. My charger only has an amp meter that is always pegged at 20 amps (top end). I can hear the batteries boiling while its on the charger for a while and they test at 6-7 volts so I'm guessimg the charger is trying to push 36 volts of battery to 48 so it never stops?

So, this is probably a stupid question but if i put in 8v batteries can i expect my speed problem to go away?

In 1998 CC made both 36 and 48v carts.

The 36v carts had a row of resistor coils behind the batteries (under a heat shield ) see pic. These resistor coil carts are 36v.

No Coils and round charger receptacle with 6/6v batteries is a booboo.

Take a good look at the charger it will say 36 or 48 someplace on it.
