Can someone tell me how to test a supperssor in a power drive 2 club car 48 volt charger Thanks

What is a "suppressor "? But the best answer for now would be, replace with known good.

The powerdrive 2 surge suppression was a regular diode in parallel with the relay coil.
Disconnect the 2 small quick connects (3/16") from the charger relay. Set Your meter to the "diode" test setting. Place the probes on each end of the diode. You should get no reading when the red probe is on the striped end of the diode. Switch the leads and test again, You should get around 0.6v when the black lead is on the striped end of the diode. If you get "no reading" or 0L no matter how You place the probes, the diode is bad. |

Q Here is my problem the orignal diode tests bad it looks like it got hot and inbeded into the wire What Happen i blowed 3 obc;s before i found the diode almost afraid to try after replacing diode i dont know if it just went bad or something caused it to go. I dont want to blow anymore OBC's

Without that diode across the relay coil, there is a potential for a voltage spike inside the OBC every time the OBC turns the relay OFF.
Unless you have a good supply of cheap OBCs, You may want to consider switching to a smart charger (onboard or external). |
