Default Computer or Motor?

I recently bought a 2005 Club Car DS. I found the previous owner put a 36v system in the 48v cart and plugged in a 48v charger. When I got it the batteries were very corroded. I pulled them out, replaced the brackets that were corroded, and bought 6 new 8v batteries. I charged them and the cart runs great in the flats but it barely makes it up a hill (not even a big hill), it just loses power! So I was told it might be the computer because the 48v charger pushed too much voltage through the 36v system and the excess went through the computer possibly damaging it. Someone else told me the motor was bad, so now I'm not sure, anyone have any ideas? I could use some help!

I'm by no means an expert, but I think the experts will need more details. If I understand correctly, you are unsure of the controller and motor (36v or 48v?) and you are trying to solve a problem of low speed/torque on hills.

Can you provide additional details such as the controller model or motor model, how fast it runs in the flats (use your phone with a gps app such as Waze to see mph), etc? I'm not sure if the serial number will help, but the first 6 characters may also help identify the type of cart and month/year.

Its not the computer.

How slow up hill? Common complaint, but an electric cart will slow on a hill, 4-6 mph would be normal depending on size of hill. You may not have an issue at all.
