Older CC Fuse Panel...Aftermarket or Factory?
Hi All,
I've got an 86 CC DS that had a few accessories when I bought it (lights, fan, radio). Behind the dash, there is an older glass tube type fuse panel. I'm installing a voltage reducer and fuse panel/buss bar to "properly" run lights and radio (previously was wired directly to two of the batteries). My question is, has anyone seen one of these panels in a DS before? I can't find any reference to it in any of the CC factory wiring diagrams. It looks like the only thing wired to it is the gas/break pedal? Hard to tell where it terminates without taking all the wire loom off. Also some of the spade connectors are broken off and some have wires coming in on one side of the fuse but not the other. I recently did a solid state conversion, so I know that it's not used for anything in the drive system. I'm thinking this is leftover from something in the history of this 30 year old cart, but i'm not sure. Any thoughts from the group who know more than me? Pic is below. Thanks for your help! |

Re: Older CC Fuse Panel...Aftermarket or Factory?
Well, I finally got the time to pull all the wire loom off and trace everything back. After that all the pieces fell into place. It was the brake switch that was throwing me. Never even saw it under the cart on account of it being completely caked in mud from 30 years of use!
Also I discovered that what I THOUGHT was the main + and - for the headlights was really the main + and - for that whole fuse panel and tiny little buss bar. I think I'm going to completely remove the old panel and wire everything to the new fuse block from Scottyb. |

It's factory, but it's old school. The used these style fuse blocks in the 80s and up to 1992 I believe.

I'm loving the "work light" he is using!

Don't knock those buss fuses. In a dry environment, they work almost flawlessly. Easy to see if one is bad or if the contacts are dirty too.

Re: Older CC Fuse Panel...Aftermarket or Factory?
Well since you guys are here, I'll ask this followup.
It looks like my headlights (or worklights as Kashmir pointed out) have dual filament bulbs and I just want to confirm the wiring layout before I re-wire everything to the new fuse block. The dimmer switch (which I won't be using) only has two wires coming off and both tie back in to the headlights, so I'm not sure which one is the + and which is -. Also, the batteries are out right now, so I can't confirm anything with a DVM. I have green, white, and blue coming out of the light housing. Is there a standard wiring color convention with these old light kits? As always, any input from the veterans is appreciated. |

Those dual element bulbs were discontinued long before I got into the golf cart business and I'm not sure of the color code on the wiring. Someone else who is more familiar with them should be along to help.

They are DC bulbs. I would just hook to a battery and check. My guess would be green negative white low beam and blue high beam.
