worn body edges.
Working on the bodywork on my 81 ds. The lower body edges are worn where they fit into the chassis. I have been trying to build them up, [Fiberglass is NOT my forte, thank god it's forgiving] with some success. At my local hardware/lumberyard I found some NOS aluminum edging that fits over the edge. Wondering if I could, or if anyone has, epoxied them on the lower edge. Would really cut down wear and reinforce at the same time. Not sure about the expansion rates of aluminum vs fiberglass. Keep in mind that this is only a short run. Any thoughts?

Re: worn body edges.
Exactly which edges are you talking about? Do you have a photo?

Re: worn body edges.
You can buy vinyl body molding by the foot or roll, comes in black or white and covers imperfections and protects the edges as well.

Good idea meangreen. That's why I was asking him exactly which part of the cart he is talking about to suggest a proper material.

Re: worn body edges.
Sorry, I don't have a pic yet. The edges I was referring to are the ones on the side of the body at the bottom, that fit into the rub rail on the chassis, from the footboard to the rear wheel openings. The front of the body behind your feet, has a aluminum edging that clips on to the fiberglass and is bolted to the frame, but on mine, nothing on the sides.

Re: worn body edges.
Something just occurred to me, They bond aluminum into and onto skis and snowboards all the time. So an old cart body should pose no issues. I'll post a pic if anyone's is interested if it turns out good.
