drive train on 90's club car electric

I've got a whine in my electric club car drive . put in qt of 40 wt, not much change. I can't feel any oil in resv. I don't know how long it was without oil as I just got it. It is a early 90's and looks good for its age. If the oil doesn't help what is an alternative?

Drain the 40 weight and go with 90 gear oil. Get it by the tube at any auto parts. It's not in the book but sure used alot on the '90s. Worked like a charm on my '96 CC.

how much oil does the rear end hold in my 95 cc anyone know i dont have a manuel

Several members have manuals ...... one of them will be along. Is there any of the oil you put in leaking out? Where did all the oil go?

fill it full of Lucas.......just don't plan on running it in the winter....

you can get 75/90 in syn....or 80/90 and 85/140 in reg oil pretty easy at about any parts store....but the 85/140 is not as common as it was back in the day. most HD rears in big trucks use 75/90 syn so if you can't find it at a local napa try a heavy duty shop

Toogood-I just checked my 80/90 container. Valvoline 32oz with nice spout to fill with. Have 10oz left so I put 22oz. in my '96 after draining. How did you get a qt.(32 oz) of 40W in yours? Fill to the top plug and you are there. Any parts store or even Wal-Mart has a good grade of 80/90. The 85/140 sounds better yet for the whine. It's not rocket science so you aren't going to ruin anything and heavyer lube may quit things down a little.

....with 22 ounces of SAE 30 API Class SE,SF, or SG oil(a higher grade may be used).

As I recommend to all new cart owners ,
If you are planning on keeping this cart,
get the Service / Maint. Manual for your cart it will be the best $20-$50 you will spend.
It has MANY MANY trouble shooting procedures and most Manuals cover Multiple Years and have both GAS and Electric in 1 Huge book.
Be careful of Ebay, buy from a trusted dealer like the sponsers here.

I talked with a friend who runs the golf club cart repair garage at a local club and he says the manual he has says 32 oz of 30 wt. Approx. 32 oz of 40wt. did not fill it. I am going to refill it with lucas gear oil and try that. I don't see any leaks now but will look some more. He also said I may have to take it down and file the burrs off the gears.
