My 2002 cart seems to be sluggish at takeoff. How or what can I do to make it a little more peppy.

I'm guessing you have already checked to see if the batteries are in good condition. No dead cells and fully charged. You may want to check to see that all the cables are in good condition, maybe upgrade to # 4 wire. Depending on the motor, you might want to at least a 400 amp controller. Or if your real handy, a small block chevy would pick it up.

Well, with all the information you provided I would think new batteries are needed.
