Default New battery and charger questions

I'm new to golf carts and trying to figure out electrical things makes my head hurt so forgive me if these questions have already been asked 100 times.

We got the kids an '89 48v DS for christmas last year. We knew it would need batteries before long and a few month ago, they gave up the ghost. So for Christmas this year, they got $ for new batteries. Also, something seemed to be wrong with the computer. The charger wouldn't turn itself off even after 24 hours, and the batteries would be boiling pretty good. I checked the voltages, and honestly don't remember what they were.

My plan is to try and start fresh. There is a local store selling Trojan T875 batteries for $109 each. Then to deal with the computer/ charging part, I figured on getting the DPI charger and bypassing the on board computer. This should get them back riding , correct?

Is the Trojan T875 a good battery? From what I've seen elsewhere $109 seems to be a good price? Is bypassing the computer and running the DPI charger a good way to go?

Yes you are on the right track on all accounts. Your charger might be fine, bad batteries will do that to a charger. The DPI is a better choice in my opinion.

$109 is a good price. That is the best I have found locally in south Florida.
