Question Club car battery conversion

I have an 2008 Precedent, i2 Signature, 4 passenger and it has 4 12 volt battery's. I've Heard of people saying that the 4 12 volt battery's was a bad idea and it's better if you swich to 6 8 volt battery's or 8 6 volt Battery's. My battery's are getting old and I'm going to replace them soon so I was wondering if I should swich over to a diffrent battery setup. And also if I were to swich what would I have to do besides some new cables. I do have an extra battery in the back that runs the stereo and speakers and underglow so I could run the lights to that battery.

there is nothing wrong with 4 -12 volts , the issue of run time is greater with 6 - 8 volts and greater with 8 -6 volts . it all depends on how much you use your cart in between charges
