Default Tire size question

Hi

I am going to buy new tires for my 2010 cc Prec. The tires that are on are
The Kenda 18x8.50-8 with wheel covers.

Should l just replace them with the same or go up a size or ?

My batteries are Trojan 875's x6 4 yrs old. But still going. As the batteries age
Do they slow down the cart gradually?

Thanks

Alan

If you keep the same overall tire diameter you won't change anything other than the looks.

You've got two questions going on here. Tire size affecting speed and rim/wheel size affecting speed...

Tire size changes will affect your speed. Rim/wheel size changes will not.

The 10 inch is the size of the rim. You could have 8 inch rims and 20 inch tires or 10 inch rims with 20 inch tires. The speed would be the same. The ride would be softer with 8 inch rims because you would have more tire sidewall to absorb bumps.

There will be no speed change if the overall diameter of the tire is the same.

Wheel size has zero impact on speed/torque, only the tire diameter does (not including wheel weight differences or rolling resistance that could have subtle impacts).

If you decide to go to a larger tire your speed will increase determined by the size increase. But that could entail lifting your cart.

So only increasing your wheel/rim size from the current 8" to 10" or 12" etc will not affect speed.

Increasing only your tire size bigger than your current 18" will increase speed some but you'll loose a little torque also.

The 10" you refer to is the size of the wheel the tire mounts on. If you go with something like a 205/50/10 it works out to the same outside tire diameter as stock (18"). Same distance per revolution, same speed & run time. Usually looks better than stock, but the short sidewalls on the tires will give a rougher ride.
To go up on tire size, even to something 20" diameter will require at least some suspension modification on a Club Car. EZGO's will normally take 20's without modification but my experience with Club Cars is that the front tires will run in tight turns. May not sound like much of an issue till you turn a little too tight, with any speed at all, and the steering wheel is yanked out of your hands.
