Default Voltage Reducer Connection

I replaced the batteries in my 48v Club Car and have replaced the batteries cables in the same manner they were taken off. My dilemma is I cant remember how to connect my voltage reducer. I do have one negative wire connected to the 2nd battery on the drivers side. I have 2 other wires coming out of the reducer and don't know where they go. I been told to connect to #6 battery and #1 battery. The problem is I don't know which is #6 or which is #1. I have also been told they both go to the same terminal. Help!!

Check out this thread on batteries, it has the battery numbers listed in it.

Thanks a lot for the diagram. Now, which batteries do I connect to or do both wires go to the positive # 1 battery terminal?

The six batteries are connected in series.

The voltage reducer + input needs to be connected to the first battery + [usually Red in color]. The voltage reducer - input needs to be connected to the last battery - [Usually Black in color].

It will work fine this way but it is better to connect the voltage reducer - input to the other end of the battery - after it goes through the computer and connects to the controller -. This way the computer will compensate for the amperage used while running accessories.

If I have stated this incorrectly or used the wrong terminology, please let me know. I am just smart enough with this stuff to be dangerous!

Thanks for the reply. Are you saying that I simply connect + wire to + on #1 battery terminal and then connect - wire to the - terminal on #1 battery. I am assuming that the + wire is the wire that has the inline fuse. Would that be correct?

Mancow, be very careful. There is a lot of amps in your battery pack. I apologize, but from what I have read, maybe you need to get someone that understands this a little better to do it before you get hurt.

Well I actually wired this before using my reducer and fuse block. My problem is that I thought I could rely on my memory to remember where the wires were connected. It sure seems that both of these wires were actually connected to the #6 battery, (one to the + post and one to the - post).

That wire is actually connected to #6 battery and is a negative wire coming from the reducer.
