Precedent shocks
I have just searched the entire forum about replacement shocks for my 2011 precedent.
I have found the rear replacements are Monroe 31176. Is this true? I have found NOTHING on a front shock replacement. Do they make a HD shock? My cart is lifted 6 inches but it is running the stock Monroe shocks. I called Monroe and they had nothing on file with the numbers I took directly off of the shocks. I would like to stick with the Monroe shocks but can't find a supplier for the fronts, ebay, and amazon are all cheap imports. I have a few emails out, waiting for responses. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Precedent shocks
Call the parts store and they can cross reference those numbers. Look for oil residue or leaks at the shaft seal or galling on the shaft. If those aren't apparent generally an automotive shock isn't in need of replacement. The weight of a car vs that of a golf cart is a huge difference and normally the damping effect of the shock on a lesser vehicle would dramatically increase the life of the shock. I wouldn't think an automobile shock would ever wear out on a golf cart.

Re: Precedent shocks
I took my shocks off to put poly bushings in because my rubber ones are all cracked and distorted. I compressed one of the front shocks and there was no resistance and when I pulled it out the oil inside bubbled and was super easy both ways, they both are acting differently.
That's why I want to replace them. |

Re: Precedent shocks
They should have restance and not leak. Let us know if it makes your cart ride better with new shocks. Most of the time carts don't move up and down enough for the shocks to do anything.
