Low speed amps.

Been reading about how low speed kills motors.

I have been trying my chariot at slow speeds [less than a walk, maybe 2-3mph], and I can keep it moving at a steady pace on level ground drawing 18 to 23 amps in mode 1 and mode 2 . Is this dangerous? I don't do it for hours or in 6" of mud, more of a test. This was at 40 degree weather. [D&D es-9f-49 and Curtis 1268 500a]

I've been running my carts in a RV Park for 6 yrs. Last one had a Plum Quick Motor and I run them just above walking speed to maintain "Sorta" the speed limit. Never had a problem.
My new cart is a factory motor W/Speed Upgrade. Maybe some day I will smoke a motor but it hasn't happened yet... But, I'm running on concrete, not mud. I do have 23" tires...

What speed upgrade do you have magnet ?

What was your motor temperature

Put my hand on it after the trial, barely warm, maybe above air temp but not much. Vic at D&D told my when he set me up "I know farmers, used to be one." and assured me that this motor will make torque without complaining. Still I read about slow speeds cooking internals. Is this more of a risk with sepex motors than series or vise versa?

Vic told me the same thing. However, I'm not seeing much voltage drop lugging around so it must not be drawing many amps.

I have been reading about this for years here. Never experienced it myself. Seems to be more of a sepex issue then series and also more of a controller issue. Seems to be more of an EZGO problem than CC. At least that's my impression.
Scenario goes like this: Lifted cart with large tires and stock drive train. Also 36v like older EZGOs. Low speed creeping (hunting carts). Controller heats up and shuts down to cool off. Cart runs again after a cool off period. Cycle repeats over time. Damage to controller is cumulative. Eventually shuts down permanently. Fix is a higher amp after market controller.

I'm not an authority or expert on this. Iv'e just read it over and over again mostly in the EZGO section. FWIW
