where to attach wires to measure load
I purchased a digital meter that is supposed to measure amperage draw. I'm not sure where to connect the wires on the cart. Should I connect to lugs on the motor, or to the solenoid or to the F/R switch?
Thanks |

Re: where to attach wires to measure load
Just did this. You mount the shunt in the NEGATIVE battery cable between the controller and the batts. What kind of meter do you have?

Re: where to attach wires to measure load
IT is a PZEM-051. Rated at 100A max. I just found this diagram on the web that confirms your recommendation.
The shunt that comes with it is 100A/75mV. I suppose I need a larger shunt? I understand that a 500A shunt will work, but AMP readings will be 20% of actual? How many amps are you reading? |

I have a clamp meter. Makes it a lot better.

I use a D.C. Clamp meter also...make sure if you buy one it's for direct current not A.C. Current...😎

Re: where to attach wires to measure load
Yes you need a 500 amp shunt. Not sure if your meter will read properly. Best to contact he company on this. Have seen 400 amps on takeoff but only briefly. At speed I see from 125 [uphill] to 65-70 on the flat. I have a clampmeter too and used it to verify my onboard one. So far it has been a great tool for "tuneing" [tire pressure, driving style, temperature changes ect.] My meter also does the pack voltage.

Re: where to attach wires to measure load
Thanks for the input. I will install a 400A/75mv Shunt and just do the math in my head . . .
