Default Club Car controller

IMG_3291.jpgI recently purchased this Club Car precedent from a neighbor that didn't know much about it and have a few questions. The batteries (4 x 12v) were installed 2/15 and my top speed is about 18-19mph. I have looked into the possibility of purchasing an upgraded controller and/or motor for increased speed around the neighborhood. I also am looking into a 6" A Arm lift with some 12"wheels down the road.

I do not know of any mods or codes this may or may not have. The controller is a CURTIS 1510A-5351 (350A).

The cart is a PE0746

There is a sticker that indicates Code A,Code B, Code C.

Any help, guidance and advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Bigger controllers and unleashed motor rpm will help performance. Use the XCT48400 control for 22=23mph and more torque from the stock motor. Or go with a 500a control and aftermarket motor for bigger gains.

Thank you for the ideas... with the current 350mp controller is there a specific higher speed motor I can buy that is compatable, or am I better off replacing both?

ClubCarAl,
There are so many ways to increase speed a little bit and then more options as ScottyB mentioned for larger gains.

Sounds like your car was updated to the private speed code from Club car, based on the sticker and the speed you are getting.

Last year my 18-19 mph with the CC code was updated to 21-22 by adding 21 inch tires. That works on level ground but doesn't help if you have hills.

This year I did a $1200.00 upgrade and have touched 27 - 28. That included a motor, controller, solenoid and new cables.

Lots of good reading on this site to help you plan your upgrades.

Just one thing to remember with more speed you have to Stop the cart. These brake don't work the greatest after 20mph, my cart is a stretched limo that does 31mph with not so good stock brakes, just got my disc brake kit today from ScottyB.

That's a good controller. It's 100 amps more than the OEM 250 amp controller. It's actually an OEM upgrade controller. The only down-side to it is that it still has the factory speed limiting programmed into it. If it's on speed setting 4 like the sticker shows, it's still gonna limit your speed to 19.6mph. A high speed motor would do wonders for this car. If you really wanted to get into it a little deeper, the Alltrax controller that Scottyb was describing will give you much more power than your 350 amp Curtis.
