91 club car 36V motor

I am wondering if there is any way to change out the stock 36V motor on my 91 CC DS to something with more speed and power. We use our cart at our campground that has some pretty good size hills to climb. The original seems to not be handling them too well. I replaced all 6 batteries at the end of last summer. The cart has the resistor coil board style electrical system with no controller box. It also only seems to be using one rear wheel to drive the cart. I only bought the cart last year and am looking for suggestions on what would be the best way to upgrade it or modify it. Thanks in advance.

The cart needs a conversion to solid state speed control before the motor can be upgraded.

I can attest to what Scotty is saying. I have a 92 that started the same way. I upgraded to 48v using his kit and was very happy with the outcome. The stock 36v motor really came to life after that. Torque for miles and a solid 20 on the flats. I ran it that way for over a year and then last week just upgraded to a rattlesnake II for more speed on the flats. Try it, you'll love it!
