Default DDM Tuning 880 LED Bulbs - Club Car DS

Hello,

Has anyone upgraded their Club Car DS bulbs to these or something similar? By most accounts this is a great company, I'm curious what I can expect.... looks like plug and play?

Thanks

Might be alright but I would try a 35 watt HID kit first. LED components generate a lot of heat.

They actually suggest the opposite when I called DDM, but regardless, if they're a reputable company and they're saying 2250 lumens per bulb with no extra wiring , seems like a good solution for $54, right? If the heat isn't prohibitive, what's the downside (if they work well).

Thanks

DDM is a quality company. I have both HID and LED's from DDM on truck / car.
First rate, quick shipping and great customer service.
You will not be sorry going with DDM.

Well truth be told, I got the LED's on my Precedent off of Amazon and I love them.
Bright as can be and inexpensive to boot...
$29 for two bulbs.

I highly recommend www.theretrofitsource.com

They have tech people available to help you through everything. I use to retrofit HID projectors in halogen headlights when I was younger. I've done quite a few and have quite a bit of experience in this area.

The thing with LED bulbs is…if they aren't that hot, why do they require their own fan in the circuit?

And for those with fans, how long will the fan last?

How hot will the circuit get after the fan fails?

I have a degree in EE (electronics engineering) also by the way.

Edit: I'm not saying don't do it. I'm telling you to choose wisely and be sure to do research on the particular product you want. Starting this thread was a good start.

I'll elaborate a little more on my concern with LED headlights.

The LED (light emitting diode) itself does not generate much heat at. However, the electrical components that make up the cuircut do. Transistors. Being that this circuit is located on the back side of the bulb, a concern as to what's nearby arises. Such as the plastic headlight housing, wires and so on.

When it comes to halogen and HID bulbs, the heat is within the bulb itself inside the headlight. No other components at at risk for heat unless you're using a 55 watt HID kit which would be silly.

I believe you, but is there really a downside to that level of heat? AND is the simplicity of this install (literally plug in) not worth it? If I go HID, don't I need some type of separate transformer or converter? Also, these are $54 all in.

HID comes with a ballast. The cuircuit is high voltage, low wattage.

HID has always been brighter than LED. Just an overall better light output/performance.

However, we are talking golf carts so you might have a valid point. Not sure on your use for you golf cart but the light from LEDs should be all that you need.
