06 Precedent fuse at 48 Volts
Hi, I just purchased a 2006 club car precedent that was not running. I've replaced the batteries and found a fuse that was burned out. When I test this fuse, I get 48 volts. This doesn't see right to me but I'm new to this. The cart won't do anything, no lights, no reverse buzzer, no movement. I can see that the tow switch and key switch are controlling the current to this fuse. The OBC is still hooked up. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Re: 06 Precedent fuse at 48 Volts
replace the fuse
you are measuring the volts which dose nothing if fuse is blown something caused the fuse to blow if it does blow again then you have a problem btw that meter is not a good way to test dc volts , get a digital volt meter |

Re: 06 Precedent fuse at 48 Volts
Thanks, I tried another fuse and a 15A and it blew immediately. I'm thinking about replacing the controller, but hate to jump the gun on that expense. Any way to test a controller? I know I have the negative getting there, but don't see anything making it out. I though I really needed to solve this fuse issue before doing anything else....

Re: 06 Precedent fuse at 48 Volts
Ok, I tracked the blown fuse to the lights so I think I will be able to track that down eventually. However, the cart still won't do anything. Is there a chance it just needs to have the computer reset? It's been in storage for about a year and I have just installed new batteries. The charger is blowing its fuse about two seconds after it gets plugged in. The charger is a powewise 2. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: 06 Precedent fuse at 48 Volts
Sorry for the delay. Been out of town for 10 year old travel ball tournament. Just now getting to where I can function again. So I'm under the impression that the cart does absolutely nothing when the lights are disconnected? With a good fuse? If so, bypass the OBC by unplugging the six pin connector and making a jumped between the blue wire and the white wire of the six pin connector of the wire harness that you unplugged from the OBC. If the cart still doesn't work, you may have a controller issue.

Re: 06 Precedent fuse at 48 Volts
Thanks for the tip David, I jumped them tonight and the only difference was that I could hear a very faint buzz from my reverse sensor?? Anyway, I went ahead and pulled the controller and it seems to have all kinds of things rattling around inside it. My only fear now is that I will replace the controller and somehow zap the new one while trying to figure out my other problems...can I solve the charging issues without a controller in the cart at all?

Re: 06 Precedent fuse at 48 Volts
Most likely the controller was the source of your problem. FYI, the Alltrax controllers have thermal protection. If you were to install a new Alltrax and discover you have a problem elsewhere, it won't damage the controller. If you install another new Curtis controller, it'll blow it up just like it did the first one.

Re: 06 Precedent fuse at 48 Volts
Hi Guys,
I received my new controller today and hooked it up. The cart finally showed some signs of life. I now get my reverse buzzer and and a click when I press the accelerator pedal. I'll check for instructions on how to test a solenoid and report back. Thanks for the advice on the controller David, unfortunately I'm very anxious to get this thing going and I had already ordered the Curtis replacement. I'm also adding a voltage reducer to eliminate the fuse problem. |

Re: 06 Precedent fuse at 48 Volts
Good news, solenoid checked out so I jacked up the back of the cart and one side started to turn. Slow and labored, but it turned. Tomorrow I will remove the tires and drums and clean and adjust the brakes. Fingers crossed...
