Default 1993 36v Club Car- Help/advise needed regarding batteries/motor

Appreciate any advise/recommendation I can get here.

Purchased non-running 1993 Club Car.
Was told cart ran fine before batteries died.
36v, six 6-volt batteries.

Before simply replacing batteries, wanted to get any potential advise/recommendations on if there is a better alternative for speed/performance than just replacing the six 6-volt batteries will provide.

Not looking to spend a fortune, but open to ideas regarding upgrading batteries/motor/etc.

Know very little about the working mechanics of the cart I purchased other than what I have outlined above, but can take photos or answer questions for anyone willing to further help.

I don't need the cart to go 30mph, but would enjoy a reasonable pace from Point A to Point B.

Thanks in advance!

As it is the DS only goes around 12 -14 mph. The new motor would give you speeds in the mid 20s. As for purchasing an upgraded motor/controller, it depends on how much you want to spend. You will easily spend around 1000 getting a high speed motor and a better controller. As for batteries I would stick with Trojan, crown, and Deka. There is not much more advice to give other than people's experience with upgraded motors etc.

I hope when you do get batteries in it the cart works like it should

Hope it runs with just batteries as well, but at end of day, I have very little invested in cart at present, so it wouldn't be end of the world if I had to replace something else as well.

If current motor is stock motor and goes 12-14 mph, is there any way to increase speed for a minimal amount (under $500)? Does replacing motor also require replacing controller?

Not looking for it to do anything special. Live in South Florida, will just be used to ride around the neighborhood, maybe onto golf course on occasion. Really just looking for my best options for slightly improved performance at a lower price point. Don't particularly want to spend $1k+ to go from 12mph to 16mph, so was looking for advise on those that have experience/knowledge.

Also- if batteries are completely drained/toast, will charger kick on to attempt to charge? My won't kick on, but I tested Charger on friends cart and charger worked fine. Just wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong my the charging pot section of the cart itself.

flatswaterdawg,
I have no experience with your 36 Volt car, but the professionals will jump in to help soon.

I would think a speed magnet and maybe an upgrade to a 20" tire on a 10 or 12" wheel would dress up your cart and get you to 18 or 19 MPH.

Post some pictures of the Battery Pac, the controller and the motor to help speed the answer process for you.

Also what is your serial number?

If this is your only cart, and you have limited experience/knowledge/ resources to work with, just put the batteries in. Go from there. Hopefully you won't need to spend any more money for quite some time. If you want to go fast the sky is the limit, but it comes at a price.

A 1993 DS is very simple compared to the new stuff.

Can I upgrade wheel/tire size without any type of lift on the cart itself? Is it as easy as buying a wheel/tire with the same matching 4 lug nut pattern I currently have?

Currently looks a tire that is 18 x 8.50-8
