Battery Gauge selection?
So I've got a 2000 DS and a 2000 Villager 6 (essentially the same, but 6-seater), a 2009 XRT800, and a Bad Boy Buggies 4WD cart. They use a mix of batteries, though I'm using all Trojans:
DS carts use (6) 8V T-875 batteries. XRT uses (4) 12V T-1275 batteries. Bad Boy uses ( 6V T-145 batteries. The DS meters seem OK, but the Bad Boy has never been right (it stops moving around half on the meter), and the XRT meter has recently been reading really incorrectly, so probably needs to be replaced. I've been looking at the specs on the Curtis meters: http://curtisinstruments.com/Uploads...0_906_RevL.pdf And there are a _bunch_ of different options, including 16(!) discharge profiles. It looks like the Curtis meters look at how the battery voltage changes under load and tries to determine state of charge from that. This would obviously change depending on the battery capacity (impedance?), hence the many discharge profiles... Does anyone have any idea how the batteries above inform the selection of which battery meter to use? I'm also finding other battery meters online, but they use terms like "hot acid" with which I'm not familiar, and I'm afraid that change for the sake of change will just cause me more problems. Any other recommendations for battery meters? Thanks! |
