Intermediate Steering Shaft

Hi all,
Has anyone extended their intermediate steering shaft?

Attached is a photo of the stock DS intermediate shaft, as well as an extended shaft from a Jakes Lift kit.

I need to make a shaft about 1.75 inches longer than the stock CC shaft, and am looking for any information or experience that you might have.

I am bumping this post to the top, because I still need some help with this little task.

But I will start with a slightly different question, which is, has anyone removed the shaft from the u-joint?

And does anyone know if that shaft is splined where it is welded into the u-joint knuckle?

I thought it was welded around the OD of the knuckle after the shaft was inserted, but grinding on it with a Dremel tool, and cut off wheels I can't seem to separate the two pieces.

Any help will be appreciated.

I am at a total standstill with the project waiting for a backordered main wiring harness.
