Exclamation 1989 club car top gear only.

I've just had the cart out & it seems that the resistors are gone. I only have top speed & stop no slow speeds at all. Is it better to replace the whole resistor pack & cables or just the resistors to gain the slower speeds & risk not damaging anything else on the throttle or cables. thanks...

Simple system. Wait for coils to cool and check for broken coils or loose connections....If none, open the V-glide and with the key off check the action of the wiper arm. If it goes accross all the buttons inspect the contacts for visual signs of arcing? Check all cable connections and come back

Was that full throttle only in forward and reverse?

thanks again scottyb & yes forward & reverse. I replaced the wiper assy. with a new one form a local dealer but, the cart is so old that his tech. that worked on them retired
& all of his notes are in his head & moved to fla. they are too much to have them service it & I can do the work myself. now back to the cart. I did check the resistors & the are rusted & looked cracked. the contacts on the wiper all are straight & even. any other suggestions? & the continuity is good from the wiper contacts to the resistors..

Time to get dirty then....take hold of each coil and pull and push on tehm look for a break. Same with all of the cable connections.... have you ever tried to fix anything like this before?

well I have this as a project. I have stripped & painted the cart added new batteries, cables, seats front & back. new motor, & lift kit. for & rev. switch. front & rear lights. brake light assy. then had no problems last summer except for the micro switch that you helped me with last summer. put it in storage & then this. one drag cart when coming out of the garage full throttle & was like what now went wrong or broke. the resistance on the meter in ohms is all over the scale on the coils. & I'm thinking if I take the resistors & keep pulling & moving them I' not worried about breaking the coils but, I know my luck I'll break or short something else out. murphy's law.... thanks again & back to work I go. I'll let you konw what I find...
