Another steering wheel removal PITA

This is not working. Tried various things, read all about it.
I think I will try to make a different puller. Thread some holes near the collar for puller bolts. Make a bracket for the bolts. Saw a video on it
If all else fails I will cut it out then pull the metal collar out.
I could take it to dealer but...

Soak the splines with PB Blaster overnight, place a hardwood block on the shaft and smack the daylights out of it while someone is pulling on the wheel. It has always worked for me.

hipower, I will try that.
I don't think this strap/puller setup is really putting the compression force near the collar where it should be.
Seems to just be bending in the sides of the wheel.
I will whack at it again today.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. Even works on old tractors sitting outside for decades.

New to this, just thought I would ask.

I could take it out to check it out after the wheel is off but I have other things to deal with.

I like to take things apart to insure it's all good but I have electrical I need to work on.

if you are getting a new steering wheel, just use a dead blow hammer on the back of it. Leave the nut on one or two turns so it doesn't go flying....

Sign me up for the hammer in the back of the wheel too.

That is just what I was going to suggest. I whacked mine a couple times, right where the bolts that hold the center cover are and it popped right off.

Thanks guys.
Didn't pound it today, just looked at it and squirted more PB Blaster.
I want to keep the wheel for a little while. Heck I have not drove it yet!
It's got an all new, well almost all new front end. Bearings were good!

I will keep at it.

Thought you had to remove it? Do you want to remove it, or want to "keep it a while.?"

I didn't hurt mine whacking it from the back, like Kashmir I too used a deadblow hammer which is made out of hard rubber.

It is all about a little shock, not twisting force like your ratchet strap rig.

You won't hurt the bearings in the column with a few dead blow hammer hits.
