Thumbs up AMD 7114 Beast upgrade

After weeks of research I decided on the AMD 7114 "Beast" motor. Making this post because the search function has very limited results for this particular motor.

I have 2002 DS that originally was a 36 resistor cart which I turned into a hunting rig. The original 2.98hp motor ran well when upgraded to a 48 volt system. The problem was with heat when creeping through the woods. So I opted for a high tourque motor. Well let me say that I'm impressed. Currently on 4gauge wiring, Alltrax 500 this thing came alive today. It runs 22-24 on 20" tires, and will spin them as much as you want up a 45% grade. The torque is unreal.

2 gauge wiring and reversing contractor will be the next upgrade by the end of the week to keep everything cool.

Very pleased. Checked motor, stock f/r, and wires with temp gun and nothing was running hot currently. Still gonna upgrade to 2 gauge and contractor to keep it that way

Good choice! I thought real hard on this motor when I was shopping around and a site sponsor, golfcartking.com, had a heck of a deal on it at $510 shipped.

Hope you enjoy it!

That's what it came down too. Couldn't beat their price! I figured it would run 16-18, which I was more than fine with. Boy was I wrong!

That's impressive. Torque is important while hunting. Speed is nice but being able to drag a big animal back to camp or haul feed up hill is a real need. Sounds like you have both.

It hauled 250lb deer back when it was stock at 8mph......Problem was my passenger would have to jump off going up hill! Lol. Don't think that's gonna be an issue anymore

That's awesome DLAB, I wonder how your motor would do on my cart vs the D&D speed torque that I have?

I had that motor on my old cart with 28 inch tires it would pull my ext cab z71 while spinning the rear tires and the fronts off the ground, and that was with an old logisystems non programmable controller. I'm interested to know hear what it would do with a more efficient controller.

I'm no cart expert, but if your running 25" Tires with 700 amp controller that's in your sig, with the results I just got I'd say you'd be more than happy! It's definitely got the torque to turn those big tires. I'd think you'd be 25+mph and turn them comfortably from what I just experienced. Honesty didn't expect it to be this fast, was expecting 16-18 mph WOT, but I was presently surprised, and everything runs much cooler than the 2.97 stocker

I did the same upgrade to my 96 ds series cart and could not be happier. I too turned mine into a hunting cart for night time hog hunting, like you I was very surprised to be running 20-21 mph. I needed torque and did not need to run through the woods at 20 mph at 2:00 in the morning. I changed to a HD F&R switch, 500 amp controller, HD solenoid and 2 gauge wires. The BEAST for 510.00 was the selling point for me also. Just put in new Trojan 875's and I'm good to go, happy, happy, happy.
