Club Car Caroche
My grandpa is looking for a cart for his lake place. Wants to spend very little, and loves vintage stuff. I came across this on the FB marketplace. One of the cleanest Caroches I've ever seen. $700 obo. It appears to have the 5 solenoid resistor drive system just like the older DS's have. The owner says the 'regular brake doesn't work, so he uses the parking brake instead'. Do these really have two brakes? Overall, what do you guys think?

I would LLLOOOOOVVVVEEEE to find an old Caroche for $700!!!
That would be mine in a heartbeat! I would replace the brakes because brake parts are hard to come by for those and I would convert it to a 48 volt controller cart. I imagine I would need to retro fit a newer rear end in it, but that would also fix the brake issue. |

Not sure about that one, but I have seen them with 2 brake pedals. Also, I believe the brakes are hydraulic.

Mooncarter, I think you're right, these do have hydraulic brakes. Kind of a bummer, I'm not sure how you'd convert to cable brakes...

They are hydro brakes and yes there are two brake pedals. one for regular brakes and one parking brake.
I'm sure converting to cable wouldn't be that tough. But I have read a lot of people using Toyota Corrola master cylinders and rear brakes on the Caroche |

Thanks guys. I think somebody on here once used an old Ford pickup master cylinder. So I guess there are ways to make it work. I may go see the cart in person tomorrow.

That is a very cool buggie,
I would leave it hydraulic brakes, but rebuild the cylinders, flush the system and convert it to Silicone fluid. No moisture problems going forward and if you spill the fluid you don't eat the paint off everything it touches.  Aflyer |

One of my royal rides had that set up because it had a caroche frame. Two big pedals and the little one all the way on the left for the park brake. I had to fill the master cylinder with brake fluid about once a year. I have head that they seep oil and eventually go out. That one has the original top and everything. Would be cool to redo it in like a vintage 57' chevy turquoise or something neat. My question is what are "workaholic" brand batteries?
