Default Camber/Toe on newly lifted cart

Hey everyone, I just put a 6in lift on a 2012 precedent and I am waiting on the 14in rims and 23in tires to come in. Can I adjust the camber and toe with the stock rims and tires on the cart and it will be fine when I put new wheels/tires on without having to readjust? Or do I just need to wait until they get in and adjust the camber and toe then? Thanks for the help!

I am not a professional, just a backyard mechanic.

But I think you are fine setting the Toe and Camber with the stock wheels/tires.

I was thinking the same thing! I am hoping that some of the guys on here will reassure me that I will not be doing the work twice.

Now think about that for a minuet. You have stock tires that are what?...18" or whatever? When you then install a 23" tire, the diameter goes to that. 23". Your "toe in" is now going to be closer on a larger tire than it was on a smaller tire. Also, if your caster\camber was set in, it's now going to be closer on the bottom and farther away on the top. Again....you have a bigger tire.

To really put this "theory" in your mind.....just assume you were going to put on a 48" tire!! You can see how such a tire (yeah...it won't fit) would over do the toe and the caster\camber.

Now, the only thing left is....do the new tires require readjustment, or is it fine "as is" even though toe in is more and caster\camber is more?

This could be an interesting discussion.

I thought about both of your points before I answered, and here is why I answered as I did. The information below is based on instructions I received with my All Sports double A-arm lift for my CC Precedent, as well as other articles I read:

For the toe setting you measure at that front or rear of the tire, make a mark on the tire, and the take your measurement. Then roll the car so the tires make 1.5 revolutions and measure again. If you measured and marked the front in step 1, your marks will be in the rear of tire for step 2. This is why I think overall diameter is irrelevant to the setting.

On the Camber setting you can use a framing square to verify the setting. If the tire is 18" diameter or 48" diameter, the result should be the same. The correct setting will be when the gap at the bottom of the tire is the same on both sides of the car. Either square or leaning out slightly at the top, which is positive camber.

Here is one write up I found that I think is easy to follow, there are many out there.

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/80...page=71#manual

All that said, I would probably verify the results after your new wheels and ties arrive to see what if any difference there is.

Can't wait to see what others say,

I didn't think you could run stock tires/rims once lift was installed?

If they fit, you could do it. Doesn't take much time. Worse case you have to adjust a few more turns etc. mine took 3 or 4 tests before I got it perfect even with my new wheels.

But if you are looking for the best adjustments, you need to wait. Just like on a car, you adjust after new tires for a reason. Your stock tires are most likely rounded and worn. Obviously on a golf cart everything becomes less important, but I would wait.

Set the toe with NO WHEELS on the cart at all.
Clamp a straight edge to the hub and put a mark on it for tire diameter. Then make your adjustments from there.

Night life, I have done two double A arm lifts and was able to put the stock wheels back on both.

I can understand all points here but maybe I will just wait. I am done with everything so I was just looking for something else to do. Wheel and tires will be here Friday or Monday.

This is the same thing as waiting for your new tires.....then setting the toe.

This is actually the most accurate method.
You have hard lines for measurements.
Measuring a tire has a bit of guessing to it.
