Question New batteries/acid question

Just got a good deal on four 12V Red U.S. Batteries (dated D7) for my 06 Precedent. Five cells were over filled and I managed to use a syringe to draw off almost a pint of acid. My question is two fold: 1. Should I save the acid for later when the batteries need adding to or do I just add distilled water? And 2. Is a mason jar with a piece of aluminum foil under the lid a good way to save the acid?

Acid is stored in plastic bottles most on the time. Milk jug should work.

From a Google search "add acid to battery":

And from US Battery:

Why would you think they were over filled? U.S. Battery recommends filling to just under the bottom of the fill cap. I agree it does look to be over filled, but mine came that way also.

So your really gonna pull acid/water out of a brand new pack? I just can't believe they would come from the factory over filled? Just charge em a few times, the level will go down

I really did! Better than having acid all over the tops of the batteries. Get over it!

No do not do this. Acid and aluminum foil will make the jar blow up, if they make contact in the sealed jar

Maybe a little over stated, but I think what the poster is saying is that cleaning the top from boiling over is an easy task, but removing the fluid will actually reduce the soulution in the battery. What evaporates out is kind of like a distillation. You replace with water because basically the acid is still in the battery.

The example is often given that if you leave salt water to evaporate, the salt stays. You and water back and keep the saline level up. New batteries goe through an equalization charge and bubble and mix. I think I would have left the level and let the batteries go through the natural process.
