Default Joining the Club Car Ranks

As you can see by my signature, I've been an EZGO guy. Spent the last 5 years modifying my TXT so it is scary fast. Problem is, no matter what I do to it, it still doesn't ride as smoothly as my friends' CC Ds's. Took the plunge this weekend and picked up a 99 DS (series) 48v really cheap. Good thing, because it's gonna get expensive quick. Club car has a 4 inch spindle lift the guy put on about a month ago and one of his kids already bent the heck out of one of the spindles (don't know how he did that when the cart only goes 11 mph). Picked up replacement stock DS front end parts (spindles, etc.) from another forum member here locally for a good price, including a 1 inch block lift kit for front. Don't want a big lift, just want enough lift for my 12 inch Cragar's with 205/50/12s. Cart has HD springs front and rear and batteries are only 2 years old.

Goal: Almost as fast as my EZGO with a better ride.

Planned mods:
Alltrax SR48500, SD Solenoid and HD F&R from ScottyB - already ordered.
Plum Quick Rattlesnake Motor
1/0 Gauge wires (materials ordered from eBay)
Paint body - matte black (brother-in-law owns body shop, so only cost is paint) (may do some ghost flames - just gloss black outlines) - also painting roof black unless I can pick up a black top cheap.
New seat vinyl - Burgundy with white stripes and black piping (I'm in Gamecock Country) - already ordered.
3 inch round Halo LED headlights (white halos) (really fog lights but should work, plus the frames are all aluminum so they should be a lot more durable than the crappy headlights made for these carts.
2 inch round LED taillights.
Doorworks cover - already have a DS Doorworks cover that I rigged to fit on my EZGO!

Thinking about:
Anodizing all of the aluminum brightwork black - don't want to paint or powdercoat because it will end up chipping/scratching. Just have to check out pricing locally.

Why a SD solenoid when you have a 500 and a HD F&R? I thought Scotty normally recommended HD with the 500.

Alltrax 500 peaks at 570.......that's why I have a SD for mine.....but it's still in the box.....the factory F/R hasn't exceeded 89 degrees yet..... When it melts, or when I go 2 gauge I'll change it

The HD Heavy Duty is 200A and the SD Super Duty is 400A. So he's planning to run the better of the two for higher amp controllers...

Is there a downside to having TOO much of a solenoid? I would think the bigger the better since the cost isn't that much more to upgrade.

Am I missing something here?

I think the original comment was a misinterpretation, after all SD looks like Standard Duty to me too, perhaps XD would be a better abbreviation.

Also, the larger solenoid has 3/8" studs instead of 5/16" so You need to take it in consideration when upgrading.

You're right Sergio. I thought it was Standard Duty and wondered why he hadn't gone Heavy Duty like everything else. Now I see my mistake.
