What would be a plan of action if I wanted to keep it 36?

TO upgrade for more torque or speed ; upgrade the controller and the motor.

Controllers are very voltage sensitive! I hope your new controller is rated 36-48 volts as many models are....If it is all you will need is a 48v solenoid and 48 volts worth of batteries. Which can be six 8v or add 2 more 6v batteries.

my controller is rated 36-48 it is a curtis, the origional was a 36 volt curtisit had 3 termials 1 for the ign.switch and the other two went to the pb-6 mt new controller only has two terminals and now i dont know were to put the wire i have checked every wiring diagram i can find for the controller and they all show three terminals. any ideas how to wire this thing. also the stock 36 volt solinoid has a resistor on the top do i need to install this on the 48 volt solinoid when installed.

Check with Curtis for a wiring diagram. It is possible they have done away with the need for it. Yes there will 2 of them one across the big terminals and 1 on the small ones....you need these to protect the controller.....

Typically the wire you asked about is used to power up the controller. THe other 2 from the pb-6 are the throttle position ... let us know what they say!

Do not forget to take care of the cables and solenoid. 400 amps is a lot more than your stock controller was rated for.

scotty b,

about my controller issue yes you are right about the third wire being for the switch, i checked all the curtis wiring diagrams i could find for my stockl model and the replacement that i have. the curtis controller that i have to replace my origional has only 2 pins so i called curtis like you suggested and they told me this controller won't work on a ez-go because it is made for a taylor-dunn that only needs 2 wires. so i guess it's back to the wallet to get a new controller.
