Default 2008 Precedent electrical issue-both ignitionwires show voltage but opposite polarity

Appreciate any help/troubleshooting to diagnose the issue. I was nearly complete with adding the voltage reducer, light kit and battery gauge to my Precedent and I had to focus on other things the last month. Went to work on it today and found very weird behavior. I did the same work on 4 other carts in April-May and of course my cart is the one that has issues

So the symptoms are:
  • Cart will not operate at all
  • With the key on and the cart in Run, I see voltage on both terminals of the ignition switch, even when I disconnect the blue/green wires from the ignition and check the wires themselves. (I'd expect load on one all the time, and the other only when the key is turned to on.)
  • I only see load when I use the 48v positive post, not the 48v negative post for the 2nd lead on my multimeter. Meaning, if I put 1 multimeter lead into one of the ignition wires, and the the other on the 48v negative post, I see nothing. If I move the other lead from the 48v negative post to the 48v positive post, I see 50+ volt. So in my amateur understanding, the polarity is reversed. And I see voltage on both the blue and green ignition wire leads.

Here's the current battery connection setup
-3 month old Trojan T-875 8V batteries reading 50+ volts across the pack. Black wire is hooked to the negative post and red wires are hooked to the positive post as expected.
-only items currently hooked up to the batteries are the stock cables
-when the charger is connected, it does operate as expected but I presume that is out of scope for the issue I am experiencing.

What was hooked up to the batteries
-Madjax battery guage (black to 48v negative post, red to 48v positive post, and trigger to ignition)
-Madjax 48v to 12v reducer (light kit was hooked to it via a terminal block). (when I rehook this up, the negative connector from the reducer will be connected to the factory black butt plug as has been explained in other posts)

And full disclosure, when I took out the old batteries, I did disconnect the controller/obc panel and wiring and wash the cart. But that was last November, and I did take pics of all the connections to ensure I hooked everything back up correctly, and the cart did operate fine since then through mid May.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong? Any suggestions on further troubleshooting? Thanks in advance.

All of Your symptoms (including the OBC working) can be explained by the main fuse near the Tow/Run switch being blown.

Sergio, thank you! Replaced the 15 amp fuse and all is well again. The possibility of a fuse briefly crossed my mind, but since I was getting voltage readings (albeit reversed) I presumed that wasn't the issue.

Nevertheless, you nailed the solution, so thank you for reading and responding so quickly!

Is it legal to have 2? If it is,then it'll need to be your phone's home screen on odd days with TahoeDawg's on even days.

I am glad to be able to help folks with electrical issues on some Club Cars, but David has knowledge in All Club Cars and most other carts, although he very recently refused to work on a EZnoGO cart .

That was last week when I was on vacation. I've worked on 3 of them since I've been back, so the party is over!
