Default hydraulic brakes on CC DS

Another Newbie here ... Our first cart is a much modified, repaired, rewired, overhauled and probably abused electric Club Car DS. I'm not really sure of what is 'under the hood' other that based on the motor ID it's a 1996 and has a new controller.

It performs pretty good ... top end is 29MPH but the lack of good stopping capability has me a little concerned. Again, being new to the cart world, I'm looking for some guidance regarding how to determine if this brakes performance is normal, of that the brakes may need some work ... ALSO ... looking for any tips on possibly putting hydraulic brakes on this old cart...

Thanks in advance for you expertise!

At 29 mph, you should probably have front brakes on the cart.
The standard rear cable brakes aren't giving the stopping power needed for that kind of speed.
Scotty over at Cartsunlimitied sells rear disc brake conversions that are cable.

There are also front disc brake kits available that are hydro.
