Help, when trying to replace my cables my A2 terminal snapped off.
Can it be replaced and what do I need. 2003 Club cart IQ. How hard is it if It can be replaced. |

Re: A2 stud snapped off
It's part of the brush assembly. Personally I wouldn't waste my time repairing that GE motor. Replacing it with a good used ADC motor or a new motor would be better.

Re: A2 stud snapped off
I have a good used motor in the shop. New motor pricing can be found on our website. I recommend the Admiral MOT-A2 for your application. I'll send you a private message. To remove the motor, take all four wires off, un plug the speed sensor. There are four bolts holding the motor onto the differential. You'll need a 7/16 wrench for three of them and a 1/2 wrench for the other. Once removed, the motor will slide off of the shaft.

Ok I tried to remove that way and the motor moved a little and would not come off. Did not want to force it and break anything

Re: A2 stud snapped off
There is always a way around the mouse trap. If let's say you don't want to replace the GE motor I would go to the hardware store and ask for a threaded rod coupling plus a bolt to fit.
Now this is where my cart skills are totally lacking. I'm guessing you could take that other nut off the stud without issues ( I could really be wrong here,) thread on the coupling, attached the cable with the bolt. Make sure you use a wrench on the coupling to stop it from spinning. What that other nut is doing I hope is just a place to put a wrench so the client doesn't spin the rod when they are tightening down the second nut. I could be wrong and it may serve some other function or when you attempt to take it off it may spin the stud. If the stud does spin then you'll have to open it up to see if there is something to grab on the inside. As a side bar if that does work you could also put some shrink tubing on the coupling and after the install hit it with a hair dryer. Would make it a nice clean looking fix. Remember 48 volts is really nothing to mess with if you're not handy and it would be best to go with a different motor then take a chance on a hack. |

Re: A2 stud snapped off
#30 is the bolt attached to the motor brush and the nut is #8
when you try to remove it you turn the wire and it breaks that is why you use 2 wrenches to remove the cables on a motor the brushes can be replaced with a kit the motor can be rebuilt ,what Dave (TahoeDawgZ71) was saying is that GE motor is not worth fixing .. it is better to get a better motor |
