Default Cart identification possible purchase for my first cart

Hello all, I'm new looking to buy my first cart. I found this one and bartered a deal on the phone but wanted to make sure it is what he says it is. He told me it's a 2008 club car 48v. That's all the old man knows about it. What should I look at on this cart to make sure it's good to go for my family? I already know it has 3 year old batteries that possibly hold a charge for a little bit. I'll figure in buying those soon but what else do I need to check out? Also is this body style a 2008? As he stated? Thanks so much guys!

I'm unsure. I just put a call into the fella selling it. He didn't answer. It's about. An hour from me so I want to figure out as much as I can before I head down there to be disappointed again. I'll update with one if he calls back soon

That body style was still available in 2008 as a Club Car DS IQ. I have a 2003. I would want to know what type of batteries it has. Not all batteries are the same. Some people cut corners on batteries. I would request a picture of the battery area and the serial number. Does it have a charger? If so what kind. I would want to test drive it first. Batteries that are only 3 years old, kept well, and of good quality should last more than a little while.

That's nice to hear that the batteries may last longer then anticipated. He did tell me it has 4-12v batteries in it as opposed to the 6 batteries. Is this a bad thing? I'm still trying to call him and get the serial number for ID purposes.

As far as the charger it comes with a clubcar charger is what he told me. Are there different types I wouldn't want? He said its automatic and shuts off when the batteries have reached a charge. Thanks so much

Also are there known problems with this cart or would it make a good camping buggy? I am looking for the basics now it has a second seat kit on it is awesome for the kids. Any special considerations to look for.

Sorry I'm all over the place. I'm getting flustered trying to find a decent cart that's not total junk for my family.

I think a 2008 would be a good car to buy, and the pictures look pretty nice. The serial number should look something like the one in the attached picture, and it is located under the dash. AQ is the type, 08 is 2007, and 17 is the week mine was built.

The batteries are a crap shoot, totally depends on how well they were cared for. The 4 12's is what I have in my 2006, and it is fine running around the neighborhood. If you are going for long range touring the 6 8's will give you more range.

The battery date is 2 digits, and should be stamped in the terminals, or have a sticker on the battery somewhere. For example B7 would be February 2017. Trojans, Crowns, and US battery, I think are the 3 top brands. Others will have their own preferences.

He was asking 2300 and then told me the batteries were 3 years old and I told him it would most likely need batts. So, I offered him 1500$ and he said ok as long as it meets my expectations when I get there. Is this fair? Too much?
