Squeak after new front leaf spring install.
Had to replace the front leaf spring on my 04 Precedent with All Sports 6" lift.
Got the new spring from All Sport and the install was simple. About 30 minutes. Anyway, I now have an incredible squeak from the spring. Even just turning the steering wheel produces a squeak. Any clues and to what may be causing this! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Squeak after new front leaf spring install.
Bushing. Spray everything where two moving parts touch. Mine just started squeaking on the bushings on the rod that attaches the spring to the lower a arm.

Re: Squeak after new front leaf spring install.
Most leaf springs are made with the edge of the steel cut or stamped with sharp edges. I always file or grind the edge to round them off. Helps keep them from sweaking and breaking. I'm talking about the ends not the sides.

Re: Squeak after new front leaf spring install.
This is what I have now.
I don't think the ends are causing this. When the suspension gets wet, the squeak goes away. I guess I could douche it down with some lithium grease or something, but I'd prefer to figure it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Seems like you should be ok with that anti seize on the bushings.
I think it's coming from between the leafs. Stand the cart up and oil them up and let it back down. Yes a good spray with lithium might do the trick. |

On mine it's the links from spring to a arm. Quick shot of lithium grease and it's good for a while

Re: Squeak after new front leaf spring install.
I guess this leads to my next question....
How "tight" should the bolts attaching this to the lower A arm be? I put a mark where the nuts were on the spring I took out and went to that spot on both side, but with a new spring, might I have them a little tight? I will also say that I think it is coming from between the leafs because there was zero squeak before the spring was replaced. |

Re: Squeak after new front leaf spring install.
Curious. Why did you have to replace the spring? Didn't you just build this cart?

Re: Squeak after new front leaf spring install.
No, I bought this one as it stood. I only painted it and added a couple of accessories.
The lift kit was installed on March of 2015, about four months before I bought it. (I know this because I bought the cart from a friend) Evidently, the "helper" spring breaking is not uncommon on the All Sport lift (However, this is probably the All Sport "clone" as there is no markings anywhere identifying it as an All Sport) I did purchase the new spring directly from All Sport though and it was a perfect match. Cart is 80% gravel roads at camp, all level. Another 15% would be in grass trails around the lakes with several decent bumps and holes. The final 5% would be in the trails at camp which can get fairly hairy with multiple mud bogs and branches and rocks to go over. Usually I am driving on the trails and I move slowly and deliberately to avoid this type of breakage. But I cannot say with certainty that the daughter hasn't been on the trails and she is quite the speed demon. |
