rebuilding a club car with ego electric parts
I have a 1996 ezgo text with new batteries and controller.
I was given a 2013 or 14 club car that was driven in a pond and fried all electrical system and was thinking about changing out my ezgo part and installing them on the newer club car. Has anyone ever done this? |

Don't see why it wouldn't be possible.
You would need to swap out the rear end and motor. Might need to fab up some mounting for those. Then the whole wiring harness, which may or may not present a problem depending on harness lengths and routing. |

Re: rebuilding a club car with ego electric parts
CTD the OP said that it was a 2013 or 2014 car so presumably it is a Precedent.

Re: rebuilding a club car with ego electric parts
yep 2011 was last year for ds
you can use the batteries i see problems mainly the club car uses a mocr (0-5k) and ezgo uses tps (5-0k) ezgo motor is serial ... club car is sepex with regen braking same with controllers Quote:
i would guess the controller and solenoid i really think the motor will test good i put one (ds) in a ditch last year , water up to the seat, and all we had to do is replace the controller, still running |

Yep, I would work on the DS, I would just be fearful the EZ retro would become an engineering nightmare (and anything but EZ). Parts are readily available for your cart and since it was free, you have a long ways to go before your investment exceeds the value.....

Re: rebuilding a club car with ego electric parts
I was under the impression that the OP wanted to swap everything over from the EZ Go.
Wiring, throttle, controller, motor, rear end, blah, blah, blah. No way I would re-use any electrical part or wiring from a flooded cart |

Re: rebuilding a club car with ego electric parts
I think he was looking at whatever he could make work. I would just be concerned its a monumental task. Like the points you made too. There could be some good redneck engineering needed to complete that and I am just thinking like CTD mentioned, it may not be as bad as he thinks and may be in for a easier repair than swapping/integrating parts that were not designed for it. Kinda like the square peg in the round hole scenario.....
