Best Upgrades For Old Club Car?
Hey guys. I've got a 1990 Club Car with the 48V system I bought the family last Christmas and I was wondering what upgrades you all would suggest?
I'm currently adding a lift kit and some extra lighting but I'm more interested in upgrading the range and performance. The existing Trojan batteries seem to be holding charge fine but they are showing signs of swelling and I'm guessing they will be the next point of failure. I've also not had the chance to test their range so I'm keeping an eye on them. When the batteries do finally fail I'll be going lithium. I'll probably go with the battery packs made up of the Nissan Leaf batteries. What other upgrades would you all suggest? I don't need a cart that will pull wheelies, but a bit of extra speed, acceleration and range would be nice. Tom |

First 48v carts appeared in 1995. So why not start with some pics of electronics of this cart?

Re: Best Upgrades For Old Club Car?
Well that's weird, Serial number is A9027213365 which should make it a 1990 if I'm reading the web right. I'm guessing someone put the wrong batteries in it. I measured the voltage on the batteries so I know it's a 48V bank. I haven't checked the motor to see its rating yet but I've got it up on jack stands in the shop so I'll get some more data tonight when I finish up the lift kit.
The lift is a 6" lift with 22" tires. Tom |

look at the charge port, does it take a round 3 pin plug ?
Look behind the batteries does it look like the pic attached? |

I'll also add that it also uses the wiper system for speed control so it doesn't appear the electrical system has been modified other than the battery bank. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that 48V probably isn't good for the resistor bank and possibly the motor depending on its rating. Tom |
