Default need a little help

Have a 09 IQ Precedent. Thanks to Scotty and David I built a pretty awesome off road cart four years ago.
After sitting a few days on charge when you turn the key on there is a loud clunk from the solenoid but no go. Turning the key back and forth each time with clunk from solenoid still no go. Switch the rocker from R to F, get a clunk from solenoid cart runs.??
Now turn key on no clunk from solenoid until you mash go pedal than clunk and cart runs.
Its good than, until it sits for a few days.
Some days it fine than back to turning key on and off to get running.
Thanks

Must not be cause it engages each time I turn key on. When it engaged with the F&R switch than ran didn't seam quite right.

So the solenoid latches when you turn the key on? If you wait will it disconnect or is it staying latched as long as the key is on?

It engages when I turn the key on. Than a light click later. Another engage when I press go pedal. Sometime
I am kind of leaning towards the solenoid or motor brushes.
Wanted some expert thoughts before I start buying different parts.

Intermittent trouble is hard to pinpoint. Throwing parts is often wasteful.
When the cart will not go does the solenoid still click ?

Do you have tools and skills to test circuits?

Have tools and a little skills. What should I be checking when it engages and will not run ?
It has been running the last few times I checked it.
That's what bothers me. It runs in the garage, will it run a few miles from camp.
