Default Everything is new... where's the torque

All,

I have a 2004 CC DS 48v (6-eight volt). In the past 12 months, I've replaced all new batteries, upgraded to PQ Bandit, replaced the battery cables (the interconnects) with 2 GA cable, and just today replaced the MCOR through TahoeDawg. That said, from last year to now, I have less torque going up hills, etc. I am at a loss, and am pretty pissed because I feel like I'm doing everything right and I'm going the wrong way.

What do I do? I shouldn't have to upgrade the controller just to get back to where I was a year ago, should I?

LOL! That was the short answer.

If you call PQ, I'm pretty sure they will tell you that with the motor you gained more top end, and although not linear, what you give to one you take from the other. So to get more speed, you most likely lost a little torque. That is usual and not uncommon. To compensate and drastically increase that, you bump up the controller. (Solenoid too!)

PS- I did the bandit on my old cart (only cause motor was weak) and ended up having to work to get my torque back. I only noticed it when loaded down or starting off on an incline.

Well... they told me that I would get a moderate more torque (and I did) but I know that I have less torque today than I did immediately after installing the new motor. I attributed it to the MCOR, but I just replaced that today.... same problem

Well mentioning the MCOR, did you verify travel and 100% pedal? But that should not take the torque away as much as speed.....

Increasing battery cable size only helps and newer batteries only help, so unless your controller is not sending the correct signals, I am not sure what could be making you lose torque.

Is that a stock solenoid or a HD?
Is the cables, solenoid or controller getting unusually hot after a hard ride?

Amps equals torque.

Your throttle linkage under the cart may be worn. The top of the accelerator should be 6" from the floor with no side to side or up and down play in it. If it wiggles, you'll have to replace the accelerator bearing and bracket assemblies and the pivot rod. If it's not bad, I'd say that you may just have wear on the drive bar. I doubt either of these are your problem though. The MCOR4 conversion kit I sold you is much more forgiving of worn throttle linkage than the MCOR1 was. It gets to Wide Open Throttle much quicker than the original MCOR did. With the original, you had to have the pedal almost touching the floor. The MCOR4 will give you an inch or so of wiggle room to play with. Is this a series car or an IQ?

Good post.

Throwing money at a problem isn't always the best answer.

I think I got it! There is too much play in the accelerator before it rotates the MCOR rod. On the "back" of the linkage coming down from the accelerator, there is a large spring. On the back of that spring, there is a nut. It SEEMS like tightening that nut should take up some of the "slack" that is ultimately causing my problem. Is this how you adjust that accelerator "starting point?"

(This is an IQ cart)
