Roof basket?

Just wondering what you think of adding this to my Club Car.

Family uses the cart to go to the pool and may use it at the beach in the future. Only carrying space in bagwell, but new Bazooka will take that space. I would have to drill it into the roof but that is OK, worse case would leave 4 holes if I take it off.

The basket will alter the way the cart rides . makes it very top heavy . also messes with the supports that weren't designed to support the weight of the basket, and all the stuff that's about to get thrown in it.
It is a can of worms.

Be careful how much weight you put on the roof and how you handle the bumps and shifts in terrain when the roof is loaded. The roof supports are not made to handle much more than just the plastic top.

depends on the cart
a pre 2002 cart i would not put anything over 10lbs
after 2002 they made the roofs of heaver plastic
it will be ok under 50lbs

Thanks for the replies, turns out it probably won't happen. I checked and with the lift kit, I am close to the garage door already. The basket would fit but if anything was above the basket, it would hit as we enter the garage. May have to look at a front basket, just don't like the way they look.

Thought about using a hitch receiver cargo basket instead? It would be removable when it's not needed.

I installed a rear basket on my cart that was designed to go on the rear of a 4 wheeler. I purchased only the support assembly off Ebay that is designed for a rear metal box bed. Off course I do not use a rear flip seat. Works great.

Thought about the hitch receiver rack, but I am afraid the added weight on the rear could make things a bit hairy, especially if I have all 3 kids on the back seat. My new idea is a small lightweight trailer. Figured I could get a lightweight lawn cart and convert it to two wheels and add a tongue to it and then it could be multipurpose.

Of course I can see it now, that will be where the kids want to ride. ;)
