Default Brake squeal. Fixed for now.

I had horrible brake squeal. Pads have plenty of life left. A guy suggested I squirt comet into them. So I got a syringe from work and pulled up some comet. The spaces r tight but I shot it through the crevices. The squeal is almost completely gone. I'll end up giving each side a couple more blasts. Comet was $.88. Works awesome. Very pleased.

Back in the old days when ceramic pads were still new, we used to cover the pad with electrical tape and test drive the car. The tape would naturally burn off but the adhesive would stay and quiet the squeak for several months. This was on automobiles, not carts.

Kashmir, love my cart, but the brake squeal was brutal. I will update after a day of sitting. We use it almost every day. Anxious to report the results.

Back in the day of drum brakes you would get a glazing of the drum and pads. That Comet trick is breaking that glaze. It's scuffing up both surfaces. Don't know how long that will last.

Turning the drums would remove that glaze. Don't know about carts.

I have you all beat. I still remember when crome-moly rings first got popular around here and when you would place them in your HO engine (GM power of course!!), we would take a handful of comet and drop it down the carb at 4000 rpm and that was the ONLY way to seat the rings to the cylinder walls....

Nole....you are old school for sure.
We would use tri sodium phosphate to seat rings

Not so fast, I remember that trick also! Just can't remember why the cross hatch led beads prior to assembly didn't do the trick though?

I think it was the machine honing. Berry brushes made it better and by that time your machinist would always ask "Chrome rings or standard?" And that was only for how he honed the cylinders. It was not quite as fine if chrome was to be used.

I played "Batman" a lot too...
Kept a gallon of trans fluid on the floorboard of whatever hot rod I was driving at the time. I had a vacuum line going from the trans fluid to the carb, an IV roller clamp on the line...

Open it up and instant smoke screen out the duals!
Anyone following would have to stop and let the smoke clear!
It would foul the plugs weekly, but I kept a plug socket, ratchet, and an emery board in the glove box .

Oh, and let's not forget bleach burnouts!!!
