Electric CC DS began running slower
I have a 2004 Club Car 48 volt. It uses 4 12-volt batteries. Batteries are now no more than 2 years old. I began having an issue with getting the motor to engage and move. The cart would go for a few minutes and stop. I charged batteries, but not change. I cleaned all cable ends and battery terminals. Motor is responsive now, but runs slower than usual. Is this a battery issue or....

Re: Electric CC DS began running slower
I was having similar problems with my 2009 club Car Precedent. It's a 48v with six 8v batteries. The batteries that were in it were from a discount auto parts store and had a date of 03/14 on them. I replaced them yesterday with Interstate batteries. My cart is running a lot better now. It's still not quite as fast as I would like it to be but it gets me around the campground where I use it.

Yes most likely. Golf cart like to be hooked to charger any time the cart is not in use. Also check water level once a month, use distilled water keep it about 1/4 inch above the plates. If properly taken care of the batteries should last 4-6 years.

Re: Electric CC DS began running slower
Welcome to BGW Pokey!
Could be various things. First you say now the motor is responsive. Does that mean it does not stop anymore but just runs slow? Sounds like you improved but not good yet. If so then then there are these things to check. Even though your batteries are only two years old you may have developed a bad cell in one of them. Get a hygrometer at an auto parts store. Get one with glass float, not the floating ball type. This will show a bad cell real quick. What is you pack voltage after charging and resting for 12hrs. Could be a welded closed solenoid in which case the controller would go into a limp mode. Next would be a MCOR issue. Pump pedal 20 times and see if it improves. Next would possibly be some motor brush issue. What type of batteries are these? Are the cables in good shspe? Could be a charger issue also. I am staying away from controller at the moment. |
